First Look: McGarett's Mom Joins Hawaii Five-0

"CBS' Hawaii Five-0 left us hanging last May with the shocking revelation that Steve McGarrett's presumed-dead mother, Doris, is very much alive. "She faked her own death to protect her family," explains Chicago Hope vet Christine Lahti, who debuts as Mama McG in the September 24 season premiere. "Now she's come back and Steve [Alex O'Loughlin] is shell-shocked. She hasn't seen Steve since he was 15 and wants his forgiveness."

Lahti will appear in at least four episodes, which will reveal where she's been all this time and if she's to be trusted. Steve's spitfire kid sis Mary Ann (Taryn Manning) will also return for a reunion, but I wouldn't start planning a Mother's Day picnic on the beach just yet. According to executive producer Peter Lenkov, "Wo Fat wants Doris dead, and a man like that is hard to keep behind bars.""

Christine Lahti from CBS.com

"CBS has announced that Academy Award winning actress Christine Lahti has been cast in the role of Steve McGarrett’s thought-to-be-dead mother. Quite a few names were being floated by fans as possible contenders, including Geena Davis and Lynda Carter, but I’m quite happy with this choice.  I’ve long been a fan of Ms. Lahti’s work and as an actor who is always eager to learn from his peers, I think that Alex O’Loughlin must also be pleased with this casting.

Christine Lahti on Hawaii Five-0

I've seen her acting but right now I have no idea what to say. She's nice, a good actress but I can't see if she's going to blend with the team.

"CBS announced today that veteran actor Christine Lahti has been cast in a recurring role on Hawaii Five-0 for Season 3. There’s no official word yet on what role she’ll play, but fans are speculating like crazy, with the most common thing I’m seeing being she’ll be portraying Steve McGarrett’s (Alex O’Loughlin) mother. But you never know!
Lahti has appeared in such notable television shows as Chicago Hope and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Her latest endeavor before hitting the airwaves on Five-0 is a movie now in post-production called Truck Stop. Find out more about Ms. Lahti on her IMDb page.
